- Balanced scorecard
The intent of a balanced scorecard is to balance the measures and KPIs between short-term operating metrics and longer term business health metrics.- KPIs
Key performance indicators. These are the independent activities and associated metrics that drive primary measure results. For example, revenue (primary measure) results will be driven by activities and the associated metrics that include activities such as: number of projects, average size of a project, bid volume, win rate percentage, etc.- Performance-based culture
This is an organization that has a disciplined process to define and measure performance as an executive team (and as functional teams), and to publish and share performance results on a regular basis and hold members accountable for results including added compensation. Over time, this behavior becomes a core part of the culture and values of the company.- Primary measures
These are the handful of higher level, "dependent measures" such as revenue, profit and number of active members. They are driven or explained by the independent activities and associated KPIs or activities.
